Module 4: Vanity Blogs and Info. Blogs.

When searching for vanity blogs, it was interesting to me that there were a lot of female vanity blogs than male blogs. The blog that I found was (http://lottelita.livejournal.com/). On her profile she states her name as Vain Lotte and lives in the San Diego area. I was pretty confused about her blog posts, it seems that she is only trying to reach her friends or, she just feels that people will care to look and respond to her thoughts. Anyway, the posts that are shown on her site are a little old the last post was in November 2007 and I felt that this was a good example of a vanity blog.

The Information blog that I found was (http://information-literacy.blogspot.com/). In this particular blog space, I can see how information blogs just have a set of blogs that explains updates about a certain topic in an area or updates about current news. In this web blog, there is information that involves plagiarism in schools and also health. In my opinion, I feel that information blogs are much better than vanity blogs because, you can actually get information that is use full instead of getting information that is just, to me, pointless from vanity blogs. I mean, do people really care what is going on in a persons life. Well, Myspace is somewhat like vanity blogs but, you actually communicate with friends and do networking instead of just putting random stories about what happened in your life thinking people would care.

I think blogging supports the information blogs as journalism because, you actually get news about a certain topic and not a story from a personal journal. What makes for a good information blog is the source of information that is given. If someone is reading an info blog and learns somethings, then the blog has done it's job. With vanity blogs, I just feel that having a Myspace would probably generate more of a better way of communicating since Myspace, in opinion, is a kind of a blog space.

I would say that this research would somewhat support my thesis (4) vanity blogs don't have that much of a good journalistic aspect as do information blogs in receiving news or information. I don't wish to change my original thesis statement.

Module 3: News Blogs

The website that I researched that was an e-zine and also had a blog website was (http://www.time.com/time/). The websites were similar in the fact that there was a lot of articles about current events that are happening in the world. But the one thing that separates the two would be the use of information. What the articles that are not blogs have is, more of an in depth look at what has happened and why it is happening. With blogs, it's more like a discussion between viewers and the author. Current news with blogs give an opportunity for viewers or readers a chance to interact with a certain journalist and create a global discussion about what is happening in the world today. With e-zine articles, its more of a solid informational article that tells the reader specific facts of what the story is.

Both of the websites, since they are connected together, are very professional and effective with headlines, article links, and sources of video for the readers enjoyment. Articles in both websites were easy to read. Seemed like the e-zine part of the website had more of current events and the blog website had more of personal author articles that journalists have made to interact with readers. I felt that they were both credible and trustworthy. I would personally read or get my news from the print version than the blog because, I want to get certain facts that blogs tend to not have. By having the e-zine website, it's easy to read articles and more convenient because, I don't have to drive to the bookstore to read the Time magazine or order a subscription.

I would say that the research material that I have found strongly supports my thesis statement (5) and I don't need to change my original thesis statement.

Module 2

One of the Entreprenurial Blog that I found was (http://www.matthuggins.com)

1. By researching for Entreprenurial blog's, the best website that I thought had a good example of an Entreprenurial blog was the Matt Huggins website. He is an entreprenur and one of his goals is to start a dating website, since those sites are getting to be one of the most popular site on the Internet. What Matt Huggins does is, he shares his insites on what he wants to do and also, help those who want to start being entreprenur's on the internet. He also, has links to find stocks, and many other businesses that can help in starting a business on the internet.
The research that I found on the internet about using blogging as a business promotion were, (http://www.searchengineguide.com/mack-collier/so-does-blogging-really-work-heres-the-p.php) and (http://thecommunityengine.com/home/archives/2005/05/high_octane_blo_6.html). The first article that I found about blogging as a good source for business promotion talks about how blogs have helped many companies in the past. Also how, input from customers help the company by sharing imputs to what is good and what is not. The article states "a company can benefit from blogging, even if the company itself doesn't blog". I believe what the article is saying because, people from a business can have a personal blog and still have an impact on the company.
The second article that I found talks about good ways to set up and use a blog for a business. In the article one of the keys ways to use a blog for business is to require a lot of feedback from viewers. I believe if your going to have a blog, whats the point in having one if your not going to communicate and share thoughts. By having communication in a business, it can help keep a company strong .
2. One other way that an entreprneur can market themselves to an audience is by having a mailing service. An audience can get information about a company every week to keep the audience or consumers updated with that is going on in the company. A blog can be found anywhere on the Internet and can be dramatically sent to anyone in anytime and can have rapid feedback. Also, its not expensive at all in starting a blog as much as paying money to do self-promotion such as commericails or mailing services. I believe that blogs are effective because, once again, people can give their thoughts and feedback to what the company can do to change things and to help it to get better. Its a fast way to get people interested in a certain product or a certain type of business. Even today, many people are using "myspace" and "You Tube" as a type of blog to promote themselves and to get recognized.

4. After doing this module, I feel that I do not need to change my original thesis.

rticMy name is Mark Montenegro, I am a current student at CSUN (Cal State Northridge) and I am majoring in Media Management from the Cinema and Television department at CSUN.
With the start of this project, I have found some information about the issues with blogging. One of the articles (http://www.masternewmedia.org/news/2005/10/22/are_blogs_credible_news_sources.htm) talks about how blogging has become a credible source for information. Also, another article that I have found explains how blogging is a great source for marking and a way to attract many people to a curtain product or information (http://www.eventdv.net/Articles/ReadArticle.aspx?CategoryID=252&ArticleID=39776). And the last article that I have found explains how blogging has become a huge influence in journalism in the past couple of years (http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/cms.php?story_id=2707&popup_delayed=1).
Where I stand in Blogging is, I am for or believe that blogging has significantly impacted the print journalism industry. The reason why believe this is because, blogging is a tool that many people can use to communicate their thoughts about what is going on in everyday life if it involves important issues around the world or thoughts about life in general. Its a system that anybody can use to create their own source of news for people to comment and be a part of. I for one have not been part of any blog. Never had that much of an interest but, by reading and understanding what blogging is all about, its very understandable of how people can be part of the blogging community.
